I've been to several weddings and events hosted at Lamalfa before. Each occasion the food has been great and the Holiday Inn has been very hospitable. The issue with Lamalfa is it's enormous size.
The party center can host up to 4 wedding receptions at once. There is one massive hall that can be split by by movable partitions. These partitions offer very little in noise reduction. For party's and conferences it's great. But for couples wanting to hold an intimate wedding reception you may be rolling the dice depending who you get paired with that evening.
If you can manage to get one of the two rooms on either end of the party center you will be better off... what you don't want is to get the rooms in the middle. Because that means you will be surrounded on either side by two other weddings and be subjected to both their music and noise as it leaks through the partitions.
In some cases weddings will occupy more than one room. (The partitions can split the hall in a variety of configurations. And you definitely don't want to be the smallest wedding of the evening because all your speeches, toasts, dances will be drowned in ambient noise from the adjacent rooms. It's really obnoxious.
So if your wedding is going to be HUGE this place would be recommended. If your wedding is going to be on the smaller side I would stay away as the other weddings and parties can be a major distraction.
The last wedding I was at there we were in one of the middle rooms, and the wedding to our right was twice it's size (2 rooms wide) and their music was blaring the whole night. After a while it blended in but the noise from next door was distracting. This might be avoided with some major speaker and sound but that means more $ too... all things to consider when planning.
The Food and wait staff is great... Very good food and plenty of options in both price and quality for those of you planning out your event.
The place is just too damn big for a smaller wedding.
