  • First off, I FINALLY GOT IN!!! I kid you not, I have gone to this place 10 time and it has been closed 10 times, their hours are constantly changing every season, and I always seem to go there on the new hours, there was one time I went twice in one week, that way i knew the second time i went they would be open (finally outsmarted them!) when i got there, there was a sign on the door saying the cook called in sick so they were closed!!! Thought I was doomed to never get to eat there, but it looked so great from the outside and the menu looked very good too, so i kept trying, and trying and trying... long story short, it was worth it, I'll try again, and again, and again. Ok, so I'm not a German expert, but I did spend a summer in Germany a few years ago, so that does color my opinions here.. As soon as i walked in I loved it, it looked perfect. The staff even dresses for the occasion, which i think is fun. We had an older lady helping us who even had a slight German accent, she was great. The menu selection is very German, the beers are German, and there were even grumpy old men (i mean really old) sitting in the corner of the restaurant enjoying the night, it was perfect. The restaurant was bigger than I expected from the outside, and it was surprisingly busy on a Wednesday night at 7:30, not an empty seat in the house, although there were only two people working the tables, service was still prompt and friendly, they never seemed frazzled this seemed normal to them. Food wise (that is what matters most right?) I had the Currywurst, (which is actually why I kept coming back, that was one of my favorite things to eat when i was in Germany, I really wanted to try it)... it was good, not great, but good, i think it's hard to get some of the ingredients one would use to make currywurst in Arizona, I've never seen curry ketchup in Arizona. The red cabbage was great, and the spatzel was good. Beer was great.... but when's it not? Anyway, my girlfriend got schnitzel cordon bleu it was really good, with one exception... You see, one of the first things i learned in Germany is that in Germany there is the right way to do something, and there is the right way to do something. They cheated a little here in my opinion, the ham on the schnitzel was cheep, like Wallmart brand square slice of ham sandwich meat... for reals? Come on, would it cost that much more to use some good slice of boars head black forest ham? You know, something tasty and not... well... whatever that was... other than cutting that corner it was amazing! That's why I knocked down one star. Even after dinner it traditional German form we were able to finish our meal with a home made dessert schnapps I believe it was apple, it was very enjoyable and made for a great finish to our night! I really hope I don't have as hard of a time finding them open from now on!
