| - I was in the self check out lane 502. I was scanning my items and of course, everyone who knows you have to skip bagging because you don't need a bag, but you also have to place it on the scale anyway. So, anyway... I get done with all of my scanning and the screen states, "Help is on the way".. okay, that's fine... I have no problem waiting and being patient... however, I waited long enough and I nicely raised my hand to grab Judy's attention and said, "Ma'am." She yelled back out at me, "I'll be there, I gotta do this first!" Okay, fine... I'm patient. But then she goes to help another woman.. and thankfully, that customer she helped told her to help me first! Like, how rude of Judy and then instead of saying thank you for waiting or I'm sorry, she just loudly says, " The reason why this message is coming up is because you're putting your items right in the cart instead of the scale. I know this is a small area, but this is a scale and you need to leave it on here first." Like, really?!?! Your job at the self check out is to walk around the area, check your monitor and make sure everyone needs help. Yes, I've worked at grocery stores before such as Albertsons. We've had GOT customer service training programs. Maybe Smiths should start implementing that. Maybe I should give Albertsons another chance... I can due with the higher prices.
This store is always busy. I usually park far to avoid all the customers and cars... easy access in and out that way. The lines are long, but they do their best to get everyone out. There are a lot of self check outs, which is good because sometimes the lines are way too long and it's easier and faster going through self check out. There are friendly staff... I went to the deli and it would help if the staff acknowledge each customer and ask if they needed help. They can be cutting cheese and not look back to see who's standing there or once they are done with a customer they quickly walk off before double checking if anyone new is standing. I hate being that one customer who has to yell over the counter to get their attention, but sadly, it seems like I have to. That's just one little fix, though. I did go shopping the other day and was searching for chicken thighs and I was next to the guy who had the cart out to stock, I did feel a little pressured by him.. instead of asking me if I needed help, he huffed and quickly moved his cart around me to the opposite side... which I thought was a little rude because you could have just asked me if I needed help and I would have been out of your way in seconds. Other than that, I enjoy coming to this store... it's probably my second favorite Smiths to come to in the city (1st is Desert Inn and Decatur and I live right off Rainbow and Windmill)... I just decided to do this review because I really wanted to acknowledge Johnny and also, Richard who was stocking in the dairy section that day... they made my shopping experience really pleasant... Johnny helped me find my Grillmates package that I normally only know where It is at DI location... it was really busy that day but he helped me and also helped a couple of other people after me and Richard... was stocking in the dairy section but still asked me if I needed help finding anything... this was a couple of days before thanksgiving, but I still didn't forget to let them know that they made me feel ten times more comfortable and better shopping in such a busy environment. Thank you so much!
