I decided to try Peter's Pub during Oakland's Restaurant Week. It was pretty full, but not rowdy when I went in on a Friday for lunch. Most people looked middle-aged. I got a blackened tuna steak on a bed of spinach and arugula in a roasted red pepper sauce. Everything was delicious. The fish was moist and well seasoned, and the amount of sauce was just right for the greens. I enjoyed every bite of my meal.
However, I was not as nearly impressed by the staff. I walked in, and, expecting a restaurant-type system, waited by the door. At least three servers must have seen me standing there before one told me I could just sit anywhere. After that, I had to wait a while before she came to give me the menu. She took my drink order and left before I could say that I was ready to order. While the service wasn't terrible, it wasn't the most welcoming.
Although I really enjoyed the food, my glance at the menu found mostly bar food, so I probably won't be returning anytime soon.
