| - There are so many bad reviews on here for Just Dessets that I don't know if another is needed but here goes, in case anyone is still considering going here.
We stopped by here on our way home tonight because I was craving dessert. I had that kind of craving a person who eats relatively healthy and normally avoids major sweets and doesn't really care for chocolate, ice cream and desserts but is more of a "savory" person, only gets once in a while and then, watch out. I am on a mission. I had no idea where to go late night for dessert so did a GPS search and came up with Just Desserts. How I wish I had read reviews first.
There were chairs and tables stacked up in front of the door and it was pitch black. They wee dead and closing in an hour so had stacked all the chairs up and we had to navigate through this mess. It certainly made me a little less excited about going here. I pushed pass my qualms about Just Desserts and the chairs and tables (literally) and walked over to the dessert counter to check out all the sweets on display, expecting a mouth watering variety that would make it difficult to decide.
Geesh! boy was I wrong. The display case was mostly empty and the dismal looking desserts were all chocolate cake or cheesecake in one form or another. The only variation was carrot cake, plain and blueberry cheesecake. There was no red velvet, strawberry shortcake, mousse, tortes, hazelnut cake, flan or a thousand other desserts I can think of that I would expect from a "dessert" place called Just Desserts. I guess I am spoiled by the likes of Not Just Desserts in Vancouver, my hometown. That place has a dizzying display of desserts and keeps you coming back for more. it is always packed to the gills late into the night.
I felt bad that I had made my group stop here so I ordered a cookies and cream cheesecake at the managers recommedation.I didnt' finish it and no one else at my table did either. They tasted it and their desserts but overall, food was wasted. Everything tasted stale and pretty boring. They also all tasted similar which I don't get?
I doubt I will ever be back and I agree that they care more about their liquor license than deserts.I think a name change is in order. Oh and I think they keep it dark so you can't get a good look at what you are eating.
