Stop #2 on my donut crawl. As I was searching for donuts in the area this place came up in my search so I added it to my Saturday donut crawl. I am very familiar with downtown Concord but I had never heard of Downtown Donuts.
Parking was pretty easy to find in front of the building. On a Saturday afternoon we were the only ones in the store which was great because it gave us time to look over the menu and decide on what to order without feeling rushed. The employees were really eager to help and explain every donut on the menu. We were able to pick donut creations on the menu or create our own donuts with the toppings there were available. We order the Maple bacon donut, a donut with lemon icing and the Churro donut.
The donuts are made to order so they come out nice and hot. The donuts are cake donuts, so more dense. The donuts came in a cute little box that is able to hold only 2 donuts. Hands down my favorite donut was the Churro donut, the cinnamon and sugar melts in your mouth with the donut being warm, fresh out the grease. The maple bacon donut was good as well but the bacon pieces tasted like bacon bits not freshly made bacon that was chopped. I was not a fan of the lemon icing, which was not my choice in ordering, I am just not a fan of lemon flavoring.
Overall we really enjoyed Downtown Donuts, we really like that the donuts were nice and warm and made to order. The store was really cute and the employees were awesome.
