In Chicago we had a place just like BD's that was delicious and not a chain so I'm a little jaded.
PROS:
1. I'm a cook so I consider part of the fun trying to mix up the sauces in a way that tastes good. (My husband SUCKS at this so if you're not so sure you can use one of their recipes. I consider this "cheating.")
2. They have a million different meats! At my old place, they had the usual suspects (chicken, steak, etc.) plus a special. Shrimp was extra although you got great big shrimp. Here you get your choice of like 15 proteins although the shrimp are miniscule.
3. You get a separate bowl of rice. Yum!
CONS:
1. I think it's the menus, but it feels so chain-y. I hate all the silly language and promotions. There are no booths. The chairs are all those borrowing brown sticks. I feel like I'm at Applebee's. I just want to eat my bowl and be done. I hope nobody hits the gong while I'm here...
2. You have to stand there and wait for your bowl?!? Seriously? You can't just bring it to my table. What are you paying these waiters for? I can think of several systems to allocate bowls to tables to assist you with this process if I'd rather enjoy the company of my dining partners than watch the "magic" of the chef.
3. The focus seems to be on the meat. I think there could be a wider selection of veggies. Where is the bok choy and spinach and tomatoes and...?
