| - Well since my beloved Beat Cafe is going the way of the Dodo bird, I've had to stake out other places for my caffeinated culture fix. Inspire Cafe is good, but the hours are too irregular and the cafe seems like more of an afterthought compared to that shady club upstairs. Publicus has that comfortable level of grittiness in its location, but the place is WAY too pricey for what is basically Starbucks fare and the look of the place is too institutional to be really comfortable.Advantage? Makers and Finders! Granted, The Beat was on a main drag of a popular area good for people watching, and the neighborhood is what i refer to as "Hipster Row". Lots of laptop toting, Urban Outfitter loving, startup company tablet junkies. Still, its a mellow crowd overall.
I've always intended to have just have coffee and end up getting a small meal. The truffle fries are nothing short of divine. The coffee is always good, home-ground, and served by always chatty and personable waiters.
I've never tried any of the tea beforehand, but I'm sure its wonderful.
I would easily recommend this place.
