| - Who knows this? If I call this towing company, there is one charge. If the police call this towing company, there is another charge, which apparently is much higher than if I had called. So, in essence, these people are taking advantage of people who have their car towed if the police call for the truck. Can someone tell me why? It's the same exact action, and there is zero excuse in my mind for charging a higher rate. My car was stranded in the middle of the street yesterday. I called 911 and eventually a really nice Henderson policeman came and parked behind the car so I would not be rear-ended. The policeman offered to call a tow truck for us, so we said yes. The Walker Towing truck eventually got there, and wanted to take it to the impound lot (which was absurd, as we were four miles from the dealer and it was apparently an engine problem). I took the towing receipt to my insurance agent for reimbursement today, and watched his reaction to the towing charge-- he thought it was ridiculously high. Even though I was not personally stuck for the high amount, my insurance company was...........all part of why our insurance rates keep going up. A towing charge should be a set amount, not different according to who the customer is or who called. I would never use these guys again. This just felt very wrong. $180 to take my car four miles!
