  • My family recently did the Deluxe Upgrade West Rim Tour leaving from Las Vegas. Overall, the tour was good. We paid the extra $14 per person ($128 per person plus a $10 per person fuel surcharge added to your credit card, so a total of $138 per person). We were given a 6:15am pickup at our hotel. This was obviously very early staying in Las Vegas on vacation. One of the cons of the tour is that despite getting you so early in the AM, it went on to pick up many other passengers at many other hotels, an additional 2 hours worth. We didn't even get on the road to head to Hoover Dam until 8:15 am. So 2 full hours of driving up and down on the strip, while I was starving for breakfast and for coffee. Our tour driver was nice, professional, and pleasant, and our bus driver was also good. Our first stop was at Hoover Dam around 8:45 am. By this time (keep in mind I was picked up at my hotel at 6:15am), I was very hungry. Here you get 10 minutes to take pictures of the dam (great viewpoint, great pics, a nice stop), and they serve you a breakfast box which includes OJ, an apple, a muffin, and peanut butter crackers. The box was good, although I wish they gave it to us right when we boarded the bus for our 2 hours of strip passenger pickup. We arrived to the Canyon at 10:15. So glad I chose the West Rim tour! I loved the West Rim, the views were fantastic and the skywalk was once in a lifetime. I even want to go back someday. We were given til 2pm to return to the bus and start the drive back to Vegas (no Hoover Dam stop on the drive home but there are restrooms on the bus), which I thought wasn't enough time because it is summer, our bus was one of the later busses to arrive at the Canyon despite doing the early bird deluxe tour, and the lines for Skywalk and lunch were longer. We skipped the first stop altogether (a good tip recommended by our driver), and spent quite a bit of time at the second stop Eagle Point. By the time we got to the third stop Guano Point (where we should have had our free lunch but already ate at the second stop), we were really rushed. Cool jewelry vendors at the third stop too, and spectacular views. Overall, compared to negative reviews I've read on the other tours, I would still recommend this tour because our driver and tour guide were professional, everything was on time as promised, and we got back to our hotel at 5pm, thirty minutes earlier than promised at 5:30, so getting back at 5pm was nice (although probably could have used the extra 30 mins at the Canyon). Only negative comment was a few times the tour guide made comments about Canyon & Hoover Dam deaths that I don't think were appropriate or cheerful for people on vacation. Also loved the comedian video they played on the drive back - made the return bus ride go very fast! and loved the skywalk video on the way down there because that inspired us to do the Skywalk and we loved it. Overall, I do recommend this tour and this tour company.
