  • This place seems to really struggle with day to day operations that you would think a large furniture store would easily execute. First strike: two of the sales people in the rug department were fighting over us. They walked away from us before proceeding to argue with each other but it was still obvious and it made my husband and I feel uncomfortable. We loved the rug though, so we put up with it. The two sales people EVENTUALLY decided to split the commission on our order. Awkward. Second strike: one of our two sales people told us that the order should take 2-3 weeks but the flooring manager would call us within 2 business days of our "special order"/ purchase (we wanted a rug size that they didn't carry in store and had to order from manufacturer) to confirm when the rug would be shipped from NJ to AZ. Never received said phone call. Third strike: after 3 weeks, I called The Dump's customer service department to find out how much longer our rug would take. But the customer service line (who has really weird / scattered business hours) said that they do not check order status (not sure what the customer service department DOES do then?), and I would have to wait until the store where I purchased the rug was open so I could talk to the flooring department at the store. I waited until Friday, called The Dump store where we purchased the rug, and the operator connected me to one of the sales reps who placed the order for us (we will call him M for the purposes of this story). M said he would check on it and call me back. In the mean time, I receive a text from another phone number with a picture of our rug pattern saying something to the tune of "Miss Ashley, your rug has been ordered. If this is not your rug, please contact M at (insert M's phone number here)". M then called me an hour or two later and said "did you receive a text?" and I said that yes, I did but I didn't think any action was needed on my part since it said to contact M only if it wasn't the correct rug. M said okay and that he would have to have the flooring supervisor contact the manufacturer / vendor to confirm. So pretty much my rug was not ordered until I called three weeks after we paid for the entire rug up front. The rug came in two weeks later as M promised me at the time of my phone call to them. M was very helpful and friendly on the phone, and I do not know who's fault it was that the rug was never officially ordered. None the less, I should not have to remind them to place my order. So, I give The Dump Tempe two stars instead of one only because I love the rug and the lush rug pad we eventually received FIVE WEEKS after paying for the rug in full. Looking back, it would have been easier to just order the run from the manufacturer myself, and would probably have been less of a wait to actually receive the rug.
