| - Having missed my bus home and being thoroughly polar vortexed, I happened upon BRGR while wandering the streets of East Liberty trying to warm up. I was there during happy hour and though $2 off drafts and the $6 cocktails looked appealing, I decided to go the granny route and order a hot tea in a trendy burger joint. The tea selection was what you'd expect it to be a burger joint, but good nonetheless because it was piping hot.
My server was prompt, professional, and friendly. She had only me and two other tables, so everything moved along smoothly. I ordered the mushroom and brie burger with a side of Cajun tots and crack dip. The burger was done perfectly medium but could of used a little more S&P. I only noticed the brie in about 1 or 2 bites because the burger was SLATHERED with the mustard aioli. A bit overpowering, to say the least, but nothing I would ever send back--after some scraping with the knife I was A-ok.
The Cajun tots were solid, and I thoroughly enjoyed the house made ranch it came with. The big cup of crack dip was entirely forgettable. It tasted like an 4 day old chili and was a weird color of orange that I just couldn't get in to. Not worth the $1.50 for me, but I'm also not a huge chili fan so it may work for some others. Not enough crack in it for me to ever order it again, that's for sure.
Overall this place was decent. Not the best burger I've ever had but certainly not the worst. I'll be interested to go back and see what their cocktail menu is all about.
