The Hanna Theater is a recent revamp project for the theater district of Cleveland. Now, I never attended the Hanna Theater prior to the re-opening so I can't compare and contrast. But I will stress that I LOVED seeing a performance in this space.
My husband and I saw "Into The Woods" a musical. It was a spectacular event. We really enjoyed our time. The seats are comfortable and the stage comes out into the crowd so you have a lot of cool angles and spaces to sit rather than just directly in front like some theaters.
The staff was very helpful and moved everyone along quickly and with care. The drinks and snacks were accessible and arranged well. The talent of the show was fabulous, but this review is about the theater. The band was backstage so we could sometimes see them which was cool. The sound cracked a few times with what seemed to be a bad microphone but that was fixed later in the night.
Parking is busy in the area but don't fret there are plenty of lots and parking garages. Also they do have valet.
I have been to a few theaters in Cleveland and this one is top-notch!
You really must go, and if you're like me and my husband you may want to book a seat in a quiet private corner.
TOM HANKS is an active chair member in re-image campaign which is really cool. Here is his quote off the site:
"Great Lakes Theater Festival gave me much more than a start as an actor. In my three seasons at Cleveland's classical repertory company I learned the discipline demanded by the profession and the joy of being part of this one-of-a-kind creative art. The new home for GLTF at the Hanna Theatre is going to be the same kind of natural resource for players and audiences alike and will be a must-see destination for those around the world who love Shakespeare and the theater. Come on! Join me in putting Great Lakes Theater Festival in PlayhouseSquare's famous Hanna Theatre."
NOTE: The Hanna's Bar and Lounge is open 90 minutes before and after each performance!
