| - Meh.
We are locals and about every three months my husband and I "staycation" in a local hotel. We sometimes go to the strip but prefer off strip locations. Red Rock has been our usual go to but we believe that during our visit in March, one of the employees there stole our credit card info.
So, this time around we decided to check out Aliante. We've been there for dinner and movies but never to stay at the hotel. This was a first and we got a really great deal on a suite so we were excited.
Right away we were thrown off by the valet (in hindsight we should have just self-parked--as Aliante isn't that big). We pull up and no one is anywhere. At every other hotel there is someone immediately at your car, opening your door, etc. We get out and there isn't anyone anywhere; not even at the valet desk. So, we kind of stand there looking stupid for a few minutes until a guy suddenly comes running over. He was super friendly, it wasn't a big deal--just not what we're used to.
Front desk dude was friendly, checking in was super quick and easy. Within minutes we were in our room. It was clean and comfortable. We decided we'd order room service. We called several times over an hour and no one ever answered. We were given a prompt to leave a message so I thought maybe you are supposed to leave your order via message (weird) but immediately after the message prompt there would be another voice stating that the feature wasn't working--blah, blah, blah. I've never stayed anywhere that makes it impossible to order room service.
We ended up eating in a restaurant downstairs. That will be another review.
Later, after a shower, I discovered that almost all the towels in our room were frayed, holey and stained. I've included a photo which doesn't even begin to accurately show how shabby these towels were. Seriously? This is a 4 star hotel and this is the best they can offer? I hate sounding picky but if I'm going to shell out money to stay in a nice hotel then I expect that at least the towels will not look like they came from the trash.
My other gripe is how thin the walls are. We were trying to sleep and the dude in the next room was snoring and it sounded like he might as well have been laying right in bed with us.
The room was nice though and the deal was a good one. I imagine that if we can get a good rate in the future, we MIGHT stay here again. But it won't be my first choice.
