  • Good old Sky Harbor. My home base airport for six years. I put in a lot of time here, either working or passing through so I feel like a review isn't just recommended. It's expected! This is a solid airport but there's a huge difference between the terminals where the carriers the port authority cares about fly into and the ones where they put the carriers that don't give them as much money. You can tell Terminal 2 is old. The concessions are tired: a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Wendy's, an obligatory HMS Host restaurant called All Star and a Round Table Pizza that tastes nothing like Round Table pizza. A Fox News stand and a Hudson News. The TSA checkpoint is poorly organized and slow in the mornings when the crowds are thickest. Before you go past TSA, there's practically nothing if you're hungry. Just Ocatillo Sun for drinks and sandwiches or a Hudson News for snacks. Terminal 4 is a different story. It has a small museum with changing exhibits, shopping, a drug store, Chili's Too, a Mexican restaurant, Paradise Bakery which is a pretty good sandwich shop all on its own, Coldstone Creamery, and a Famous Famiglia (I think --- I get these fast Italian places mixed up) and Burger King. These are all before security, too. It's a big terminal with 4 concourses. C & D belong to Southwest and A & B belong to US Airways and each concourse has its own set of restaurants. The TSA is very efficient here and quick even if it's busy. Haven't flown international so I can't tell you anything about Terminal 3. This airport also features volunteers in purple coats that will cordially give you information. The parking and signage are well marked and reasonable. When I left, they charged $8 for daily parking in the shuttle serviced economy lots ($10 for covered if you are in the East EL) and $25 for daily parking for the lots within walking distance of the terminal. People there are friendly and it's overall well-organized. I just wish it were more consistent in terms of available services across terminals. I hear that will change once the remodel is complete.
