  • What a fabulous time we all had. I grew up in Phoenix and never knew about SLR. John and his staff took care of everything and the AZ wilderness made it beautiful. I took my European cousins who have kayaked all over the world and they loved it, saying its one of the best kayaking experiments ever. The best part of this kayaking trip is that the river does all the work, you paddle every now and then to keep out of the trees on the banks or to catch "white water" along parts of the river. We started at 8 am and finished by 10 am. I think because we started out early in the morning, we saw bountiful wildlife, including wild horses...my European cousins were enthralled seeing American mustangs! We didn't see too many tubbers who tend to be a rowdy bunch and we got out of the sun before it got too hot (it was a record setting temperature day). I will definitely make this part of the visitor experience for my future guests...thinking it may be fun for my high school students as well, a club team building experience.
