I know I wasn't the only one who thought the actual pool was going to be turned into a skate rink. I don't skate but I like to hang out, and when my friends wanted to come here I tagged along. I tried to ice skate but this is something Hawaiians can't naturally do. Or won't naturally do?
My last visit here the area was absolutely dead, the below freezing temperature didn't help attract people either. And the ice rink is not made with the pool water simply being frozen, it's an ice rink built above the pool. As if building an outdoor hockey rink. Lake Las Vegas has an ice rink too which I prefer but given that the ice rink is at the Boulevard Pool, the Cosmo has a lot more to offer immediately that Lake Las Vegas doesn't.
It's been closed for three weeks now but it was $10 (for locals) and another $5 for skate rentals. Another $5 for those skate aides. I needed only one time to trip over kids, fall on my butt, and bump into complete strangers for me to just take advantage of the specialty cocktails, lounges, and view of the strip. The firepits are nice and smores even better, but the ones they sell is an okay sized kit.
Loved the food and drinks, skating was no issue with me but I know people who were waiting for rental skates forever. Jump on the firepits as soon as you can!
*update*
Closed for the season.
