| - I LOVE Soma. If there was a Soma on every street corner, I wouldn't ever shop anywhere else for my sweet treats.
The shop has a delightfully cozy ambiance. When you walk in, you'll be greeted by soothing background music, the soft hum of chocolate conching machines, and walls of amazing chocolate goodies for you to admire (and purchase!). There are a few seats by the window and a few tables in the back, where you can enjoy your treats.
Everything on the shelves is super high quality and delicious. If you're used to Hershey's or Nestlé, prepare to have your definition of "good" chocolate shattered. The prices are a bit higher, but it's totally worth it. I'd recommend getting at least one item of "pure" chocolate - whether a plain dark chocolate bar or the shot of liquid chocolate - since that's where the magic lies. The truffles, baked goods, and spiced/flavored chocolates are good too, of course, but they doesn't let the chocolate itself shine through as much.
My only complaint is that they don't serve their gelato or sorbet during winter. Dealing with 8 months of Canadian winter is difficult enough, but to also be deprived of gelato is just cruel. But at least I can drown my sorrows in a hot chocolate.
In summary, if you have a black heart and want to live a life devoid of joy, then stay away. Otherwise, come to Soma and enjoy chocolate heaven on earth.
