| - Been dealing with these people since May 23, 2016. Albeit I was sick for two weeks, I have yet to see anything for my $.
My first encounter was with Melvin, who has since left. I purchased two yellow Lantanas ($32.19) from him at that time and set up an appointment with him to come by that evening to takes measurements of my backyard and discuss plants, plans, etc. He said that he would bring the Lantanas with him so I didn't have to put them in my car. Also, there is a $100 'consulting fee' that has to be paid in cash or money order at the time he came to take the measurements. A co-worker at the counter agreed and said that can't take that fee by debt or credit card.
Melvin came that evening, apologized for forgetting the Lantanas, offered to go back and get them when he was done. He took measurements, we discussed plants and designs. I gave him the $100. He was going to work on the plans, etc. Would bring the plants out when they come out to do the work.
I have many exchanged text messages with him. When he stopped responding, I drove back to the nursery where I met Austin. He informed me that Melvin no longer worked there. He was able to pull out an invoice with the plants Melvin was planning on using, the estimated cost (which was well within my budget), but there was no actual design draft to be found. Austin was very professional, went over the plants, offered to come over to remeasure my yard and come up with a design but would not charge me to $100 fee because I had already paid it. We discussed the Lantanas that I had paid for, that I really didn't like but tried to plant Yellow Bells (forgot the correct name) and they died immediately so thought the Lantanas were my only option for those spots. He assured me that they had probable went into shock, that's why the died so quickly, and offered to swap the Lantanas out and out those in. Price was the same. GREAT! He also offered to have them installed when they came out to do the landscaping at no additional charge for all the inconvenience I've been through.
Austin kept his word as to coming out to remeasure and take a look at the layout on June 16th. He was held up with a contractor, let me know he was running late. I had another appointment so I left the gate unlocked and kept my animals inside. He came, measured, said he found a real rough draft that Melvin had done and thinks he can figure out what he was thinking for a design. He said he would send me pics of his design on Saturday (a week ago today).
On Sunday, I texted him to see if he was working. I had not received any pics or any word from him since the 16th. He did not respond until this past Wed 6/22. He texted he was working that day and asked for my email address so he could scan the plans over to me. I gave it to him. By 17:30 that evening I still hadn't received anything from him (and yes, I also checked my SPAM folder), so I texted him letting him know I hadn't received anything and I was just reminding him he was going to scan me the plans. I also included that I would be working Thurs. and Fri.
Here we are, Saturday, June 25th, at 2:30 in the afternoon and I haven't heard anything from Austin or Moon Valley Nursery. So they have my $132.19 and I have nothing but aggravation!!!
Melvin texted me last Wednesday, apologized for not being able to
complete my job but said that Moon Valley Nursery is a great company and he hopes that I stay with them for my landscaping.
Well Melvin......they have my $$$$ and I have NOTHING!!
UPDATE!!! And it's NOT GOOD!!
Today is the 4th of July. It's almost 1:00 AM. There is a reason I am pointing this out.
The very next morning after I posted my initial review, Austin texted me, apologized for not getting back to me, they had been robbed, yada, yada, yada. Long story short, I received a call from Don, the nurseries manager. He was apologetic, wanted to make sure that I was taken care of appropriately and in a timely manner. I will be dealing strictly with him. We made an appointment to meet at my house at 2pm last Thursday (on his day off) so that he could personally come out, see my yard, take measurements, pictures and talk with me directly to see what I was looking for.
Don was on time, very polite, very professional. I considered having extra work done but then said I would wait and see how this turns out as this is the THIRD person I've met with to get this done and I'm very skeptical but hope he proves me wrong. He told me he would have a design ready for me by the end of the day on Saturday (July 2nd).
This is our text exchanges on Saturday even at 6:24:
Hi Tamara, this is Don with Moon Valley Nursery. Just letting you know I didn't forget you, I am working on your drawing still, trying to get it complete for you. I will have it 100% done tomorrow.
That would have been July 3rd. I waited until midnight. NOTHING!! Now I just want my $$ back.
