| - This place has the appearance of being hastily put together inside an old car dealership, and looks it inside and out.... but really, SO WHAT?!?!
I've been to fantastic farmers markets that existed only under covered tables in parking lots, and only during summer months, so having a year round climate controlled venue is a big plus.
I won't gripe about cosmetics, nor should I. It's a "farmers market," it is not Sunterra.
I made my rounds through this market over one weekday lunch hour. There were lots of crafts, a few produce and meat sections (though some people may be under an illusion as to how "local" some of the produce might be), and a number of hot food vendors.
For my personal use, I found this Market most relevant as a "food court" (sorry) of independent vendors.
It's a place where I can pop in for lunch and grab some Mexican, Ukrainian, Greek, Indian, "designer" burgers, etc., and come away with something that far exceeds fast food.
There's a lot of great options for lunches here, and some mighty fine product.
But that in itself is the source of my star deduction: "LUNCHES."
I'd probably give this place 4 stars otherwise, but the hours just don't cut it for me.
I work downtown Monday to Friday, like a significant percentage of the population in this city. Going for lunch to the market isn't realistic. But pretty much every day, I drive past Kingsland Farmers Marker on the way home. Many a time, I've wished I could take a quick detour in, and grab something for dinner. But it's closed.
The "late hours" are 6:00PM Thursday - Friday, and otherwise 5:00. Even 6:00 is pushing it from downtown, and you know they are just packing up at that point anyhow.
I'd like to see them open until 7:00 to catch the massive commuting crush heading home. I'd probably stop in all the time.
