Prologue:
A free Sunday afternoon was devoted to checking out this festival for the first time after reading a notice on Yelp.
The Plot:
My girlfriend and I arrived at approximately 4:00pm and strolled around for at least an hour.
We tried three tamales (Green Chili w/ Cheese, Sweet Corn, and Red Chili w/ Pork) from each of three different vendors.
We also shared a large Horchata and purchased some Mini Loaf Mantecadas w/ Nuts.
G
The Scene:
All of the tamales were hot, fresh, very good, and uncannily consistent in texture and quality.
Considering that all of the stands were charging $2.00 each I would say this is a better deal than a place like Tuscon Tamale Company.
This was my girlfriend's first time trying Horchata and she loved it.
The Mantecadas were perfect and a nice treat.
The Rest of the Story:
The event took place outdoors on the street in an area that had been temporarily fenced off and, despite the fact that admission was free, most of the openings in the fence were exits only where they wouldn't let us enter, which made no sense to us at all.
Several of the vendors were already closing up a couple of hours before the end of the event.
Epilogue:
We had a good time and will probably go again.
