A plain and simple bar. The decor is minimal and in nicer repair than any of the dive bars along the Dundas/Ossington strip. It has loft like feel (exposed brick and ductwork, hanging work lights) with reclaimed wood style bar and tables.
Liquor is arranged on the bar by spirit type and you'll see people order cocktails in addition to typical bar rail/beer/wine drinks. There are half a dozen beers on tap. Cocktails run to the tune of $~12-14, bar rail $~6. The bar seats 10-12 and a dozen of tables are littered about. There is a very nice patio which abuts a little parkette; the patio is my pick if you come here come for a date or to chill with one or two friends. Nothing rowdy out there; the inside can get loud.
The crowd is 25-40 year olds with pretension present in small amounts but the crowd is social and generally friendly. Since we are talking about a bar near the Ossington strip I should note the 905 weekender crowd wasn't present this Thursday night. I havent been by on a Friday or Saturday so I cant speak about that.
I am suspecious of one thing: the gin I had in my glass was watered down (in the bottle). I ordered a gin and tonic and it came in a lowball glass: loaded to the brim with ice, flat tonic and a dry lime; barely a trace of gin.
To be sure, my next drink was gin served neat to make sure my taste buds weren't influenced by other ingredients. I'm an avid gin drinker and there wasn't any mistake about it; the gin was watered down. I hadn't been drinking prior to coming to the bar so it wasn't a loss of sensitivity of my tongue due to a buzz.
My companion had a drink with vodka and she said the same thing about her drink.
I suggest that you stick to beer here.
