  • First time here to see Dr. Ran for hubby's sciatica back pain and for my allergies. (This office is easy to get to on the westside as it's located at Buffalo & Washington, near Trader Joe's. Depending on the day of the week, Dr. also practices at another office on south Rainbow.) Hubby has already been to urgent care and to a chiropractor for his recent back pain, which was diagnosed as sciatica, plaguing him for a few weeks now. He's adamant about not wanting to rely on painkillers or other meds, so we opted to give Dr. Ran a try. After this one treatment (which I think for his ailment was electroacupuncture), he's already feeling great. He reports that he doesn't have any pain at this time (which is such a relief, as he was really hurting when we walked into the office). He doesn't need to keep coming back in, unless the sciatica returns. I appreciate that Dr. Ran is very upfront about that. As for me, I've battled hay-fever type allergies for years. Over the past few months, however, the congestion, sinus and coughing have become an annoyance, affecting my sleep. So, I made an appointment to see the good doctor, too. My treatment was the traditional acupuncture needles in many strategic locations on my face and body. For me, there was no pain, just a tapping feeling when the needles were placed. Honestly, I was initially a bit squeamish, but felt comfortable with Dr.'s confident manner. As I write this, a mere six hours after my first treatment, a lot of this congestion has loosened and I've been using up a bunch of tissues blowing my nose. Wow! Dr. Ran also advised me to skip the ice and drink water that is at room temperature. Unlike my hubby, I'll need to have a follow up next week, especially since this is the start of the spring allergy season. I'm looking forward to it, now that I know what it entails, and because I'm already reaping some benefits after just one treatment. My research implies that the pricing for their services is fair and in line with what other similar offices are charging. Hubby and my insurance plans didn't cover this office visit, but since some do be sure to check with the office manager and bring your insurance card. They also prefer cash or check, but will accept credit cards with a small processing fee.
