The gorgeous decor is front and center here, with beautiful chandeliers, white and powder blue all around, and the neatest lavender waitstaff uniforms. I came here during Restaurant Week - $29 for a three course meal. At Modern Steak this is certainly a great value. For my three courses I chose the corn chowder, 8 oz filet, and flourless chocolate cake.
The chowder was perfect and was served in the cutest little miniature All-Clad pot. Delicious. I'm not much of a steak eater but the waiter highly recommended the filet over all of the other options. Medium rare had the just the right amount of pink, and the steak was flavored well.
The flourless chocolate cake was served refrigerator-cold and while it was super-dense, it just didn't have a whole lot of chocolate/strong cocoa flavor. It was more like hard fudge than a typical flourless chocolate cake. I also wasn't into the rice crispy thing it was served on. The peanut butter cup was out of this world but it's so rich that one spoonful is probably plenty for most people. If you could easily work your way through half a jar of peanut butter, this is the dessert for you.
Modern Steak also has a great selection of cocktails. I can vouch for the Swizzle and the Pimm's Cup. Both were delicious and refreshing, not sickeningly sweet like some specialty drinks can be.
