  • Phoenix is the answer for people who want Southern California quality of life but without all that water. The entire metro is designed to replicate all of Southern California's sprawly spirit. Scottsdale is its Beverly Hills. After being in this mall, I started to feel pity at the platinum set that they can only spend their hard-earned Calpers pension here on this Westfield West Covina-East mall. Oh sure, they have the now-requisite jumble of high end retailers that you can find in the Cabazon outlets. But that's all boring now. Louis Vuitton is soooo 2004. Once it strikes you that there are no interesting retailers here, you are left to do nothing but look straight up and marvel at the incredibly stupid enormous glass skylight that cover the mall. That's right, in eleventy!11 billion degree weather, the mall is covered entirely in skylight. I gawked for 5 minutes just looking up and wondering at the stupidity of it all. How SoCal they think it must be to tear of the roof in bask in natural desert sunlight in August. Lest you think this is a good idea because it saves on electricity. You could freeze Iceman to death at the strength of the air conditioning here.
