This is my second time being to a Pearl Factory store so I was well aware of the whole process and ceremony of picking a pearl from the "ugliest" oyster you can. Yes they try to up sell you once you have picked your pearl but hey what store doesn't try to up sell? It's how businesses make money. So for people who were "suckered" into buying expensive setting they didn't want it's your own fault for not saying no. Bit I'm off track.... Back to my experience, I went there knowing I was going to make a purchase. I have been trying to find a pearl bracelet for my wedding, with no luck I didn't see any bracelets I liked here. But we had a coupon for a free pearl and I always enjoy getting a nice piece if jewelry when I'm on vacation. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and very helpful. I saw that they had some rose gold pendants and fell in love with the hibiscus flower with diamonds in the middle. Now this isn't my first time looking at gold pendants so I knew it was going to be on the higher end (plus I always seem to love the privet items anywhere I go!) . Next I got my fiancé to pick out the oyster. He ended up getting one with 2 pearls or twins as they call them. The man said it was rare, even if it wasn't I was happy to get 2 free pearls! I was going to get one set and then take the other one home, but when you purchase a setting you get another oyster so My man picked again and got a pinkish pearl which we had set into the rose gold pendant. Yes the man did try to up sell us but once I said no we will just take the pearl he didn't push anymore. Overall yes the process is very gimmicky and they try to up sell but just know your purchasing limits. You can only blame yourself for buying something you didn't want too.
