  • For over eleven years I have visited Barnes and Noble to meet with other writers for 2 hours. The staff always held a table for us in the back and we were able to write and discuss books and literary events. We attended many events at B&N, purchased books, CD's, and bought food at the cafĂ©. This Fall, however, things changed. We were told, by a new manager that we were no longer welcome to come to Barnes and Noble with our writing group. Last year I had met a CEO of Barnes and Noble at a Literary Fundraiser and he seemed very pleased that we had such a long term history of meeting at B&N. He had said, "this is exactly the type of group we want to meet at Barnes and Noble." The new manager, obviously, did not get his message. Since our notice to "not return" , we have found a new meeting place. I will never purchase a book or item at this Barnes and Noble due to their disrespect and nasty behavior. I can see why many of these stores are going out of business. I am sure this one will follow.
