It was the perfect night for a moonrise brunch. I was excited to attend my first CLT Yelp Event and even more excited to meet the Yelp Charlotte peeps. The first person I met was Charlotte's Senior Community Manager, Nikki W. She greeted me with a big hug and smile! Tupelo's manager, Cedric, granted yelpers a "golden ticket" for a Moonrise Brunch cocktail of our selection. There were so many to choose from but I finally settled on the Thai Basil Mojito. It was a bit overly sweet for my liking. The bartenders were friendly and patient. The coolest thing about the bar was the ice strip that held the draft beer and upcoming drinks cold!
Alright, now let's get to the food. The first appetizers served were the meatloaf tacos. We had the opportunity to sample four of the small plate dishes. I tasted three of the four. My first bite was the curry chicken tacos, which were quite delectable. I ordered these tacos on my inaugural visit to Tupelo about 2 months ago. This time, the aoli on the taco didn't stand out, instead the sauce was a nice compliment to the dish. The second dish was the pan perdu (French toast with blueberry compote). The last small plate was the bacon biscuit slider dressed with bacon, cream cheese, and jalepeno marmalade. These were a hot commodity and flew off the plate as soon as the chef sat them on the table!
I will definitely be back to Tupelo to sample more delicious dishes. At the end of the night, I said my goodbyes in hopes that the next Yelp event would be equally great as this one.
