  • We started searching for a Toyota Camry as my wife has a long commute to her work and our Lexus RX is more suited to my shorter commute. On Auto Trader and Car Gurus, we found some examples that were nicer in the photos than in person. Finally, we stumbled upon a 2012 Camry LE at Bill Luke Fiat. As a four year old used car, there are a few dents, ding, and scratches on this car as to be expected (with a few scratches on the windshield too, but they are very thin). First, the dealership is in two buildings, but the main building seems to be the one near the service department so park there if you are coming in to look at cars. There is a lounge with comfy couches showing HGTV on a flat panel with free water and popcorn nearby. We jumped in the Camry right away after performing a quick walk around. During the test drive, I noticed a little vibration on braking which is a common symptom of rotor warping due to heat. This is a common problem in Arizona. My Lexus has slotted aftermarket rotors (EBC) with EBC green stuff pads. This combination results in brakes that never fade even in extreme summer heat. Satisfied with the minor issues noted above, we had our credit run for the financing of the car and got a reasonable value for our 2002 Toyota Camry trade. As part of the deal, they agreed to fix the brake vibration issue in their own service department. We got the prime rate for our car loan and were out the door within three hours of arriving at the dealership. The following day, dropping off spare keys and the title for my 2002 Camry was simple. We ran into the finance guy near the entrance which allowed us to do some light shopping at IKEA before heading home. For anyone reading this that has brake rotor issues due to the AZ heat, I would highly recommend installing EBC ultimax rotors (slotted, cross drilled ones will just eat your pads and "look cool") with EBC green pads once your OEM rotors are toast. I plan to do the same for the Camry once the OEM rotors are gone.
