  • Very mixed opinions about Rumor. It falls right in the middle at 3 stars. First, the PROS: -Inexpensive, especially if you book through their web site and get 30% off. I guess it depends on the weekend, but when I stayed rooms were as low as $75 a night (really closer to $100 a night with the "resort fee" and bs). -Air conditioning, at least in my room, worked GREAT. Very important with 105 degree weather out. -Not overbooked/busy like Strip hotels. The hotel seemed fairly sparsely populated, not sure if that's the usual MO but I know the Strip is super packed on summer weekends. -No gaming area hassle, though if you choose to game the Hard Rock is across the street. Though it's still a 10 minute walk because of how annoyingly long the Vegas stoplights take to change. -Staff were quick and receptive to calls for minor help (more towels, cups , etc) -Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and furnishings were nice enough. It wasn't a run down motel, despite looking like one from the outside. -Valet guys are awesome, best part of staying here probably CONS: -Check in staff do their jobs but man do they look grim. I get I might be grim working there too, but they looked and sounded like they're at a funeral. -Grounds look like a seedy 1950's motel, which it used to be. The interiors of the rooms are renovated but the outside is ugly -There's an annoying DJ blasitng music every morning starting at 11 am till sundown. It's obnoxious since few are actually at the pool. I know if you have a room facing the pool it may wake you up (luckily I didn't) -The hotel restaurant has such limited hours for Vegas. 8 am to 10 pm. And it was closed for a private event for a full day one of the days. It's inconvenient to get food here. -That applies to water too. The big strip hotels have vending machines everywhere, or at least some sort of 24/7 Starbucks/corner store downstairs where you can get basic needs. Here, you don't have easy access to that stuff. You have to walk 2 blocks to the CVS, Subway, or mini market. So you may think no big deal, 2 blocks... well in 105 degree weather it is a huge deal. -The crowd was pretty loud and unruly, there were huge parties with lots of non-guest visitors. If you're a family or quiet person, this is not a place to stay. -Too many frogs on the grounds -Room service is inconsistent and unavailable
