Ive been banking here for a little over a year and so far its been a great experience. The people who work here are friendly, prompt, and helpful to answer questions about different types of investments through their bank. What puts them over the top for me is an experience I had earlier this month.
I was scheduled to have money taken out for an automatic payment on the 5th. I get an email on the 6th stating that my check had been returned due to insufficient funds and that I would be charged $30 for a returned check. Shocked and upset I called the bank because I was positive my account had more than enough money to cover the transaction. The banker on the other line confirmed that I was correct and after calling the debit card company (mastercard) or whoever processes their payments, I was told that it was a system error on their part and that I needed to talk to the merchant if i wanted my fee removed. Not wanting to waste my time on a fruitless effort I called the bank and braced myself for a lengthy battle over the charge. To my surprise and relief, I was told that they would either talk the merchant into removing the fee or deposit $30 into my account to cover the charge. I went in to make a deposit and sure enough there was an extra $30 in my account to cover the charges. This is what a great bank does! Could not be happier with banking with CIB but only have a slight complaint.
I wish they offered more services such as currency exchange, and something like what another bank has where they round each transaction with your debit card up to the nearest dollar (EX 1.50 would be 2.00) and place the extra change into your savings account. I would also like to see them come out with an iPhone app but that may be stretching it considering they aren't a big corporate bank.
Overall though, fantastic place to bank and I would recommend it to anyone as long as they can deal with the minor inconveniences of having a smaller local bank.
