  • We lucked out and had a beautiful fall day when we visited Trip B this past weekend. Unfortunately, due to the high levels of rain we received on the previous days leading up to our visit, the place was somewhat of a giant mud pit in most areas. The farm was a bit of a hike away, but there is a lot to do there, from slides to a corn maze, horse rides, hayrides, and of course picking your own pumpkins and apples. This particular day the farm was extremely busy. We started off browsing the pumpkin displays. Pretty cool, they have rows of themed displays such as Rapunzel, Shrek, and Beauty and the Beast. They also had a whole row dedicated more toward nursery rhythms. Most of the characters sported pumpkin heads to tie in the theme. My favorite was Scooby Do since we go way back, that is Scooby and I. After the displays, we headed over to the small petting zoo, and the haunted house. Then onto the corn maze which was actually pretty challenging, not to mention a complete mud pit. Our boots were caked with mud. My mother-in-law decided not to go when she say us, for lack of a better word, float across the incredibly swollen earth to the entrance. It felt like walking on Jell-O. Good thing she declined because if you are wearing anything but boots, your feet will get wet, not to mention covered in mud. Overall the maze was fun. Next we jumped in line for the hayride. Not a ton going on here but you do get to sit back and relax and look around the farm, and hear a little about it. Did you know that each strand of silk on an ear of corn represents a kernel of corn? I didn't but apparently this is true. After the hayride we found ourselves pretty hungry and got in the long line for some overpriced mediocre food. Two kid's meals (two plain hot dogs, an apple and a milk with a prize AKA a pencil) were $4.00 each. One water 2.50, one kielbasa sandwich $4.50, and one pulled pork $5.00. We spent about $21.00 and it wasn't worth it, but they didn't have any other options and we were starving. After eating we checked out the farmer market store and I purchased a peck of apples to make pies. $12.00 All in all this is a nice way to spend an autumn day with your family. My only real complaint is I felt it was overpriced to get in, and of course the food. It's $13.00 a child and $8.00 an adult. This covers most of the things we did, but doesn't cover the horseback riding, face painting, or any pumpkin or apple picking. A bit on the expensive side IMHO, but is worth it for the once a year visit. Do yourself a favor and eat before you go.
