I've went to Carmine's in NYC about twenty years ago. I don't recall the quality of the food but decided to try Carmine's in Las Vegas since the one in NYC has an excellent reputation. I have mixed reviews. For the incredibly high prices we paid for pasta, it's not worth it.
I went with a group of ten people and we ordered:
Lasagna: good but nothing to rave about
Meatballs: Wow...you call these meatballs? Not very good at all
Chicken Parmesan: Actually quite good and the best item we ordered.
Chicken Scarpariello: Not much flavor, sausage was good.
Rigatoni Pomodoro: heavy basil sauce, tasty but not worth paying $35 for a huge bowl of $4 pasta.
We didn't order desserts since we were full from our entrees. Portions are huge but what's the point of having huge portions of just average food? How about focusing on quality instead?
Service was excellent except for one waiter who kept on hovering around our table after we were finished, almost as if he were trying to rush us out even though there wasn't anyone waiting to be seated.
Would I go back? No way.
