  • As an electronics engineering student, I was very disappointed when Active Surplus closed down on Queen. Not long before they closed, I was walking down Bloor after visiting a vape shop and stumbled across this place. The vibe is totally me! The place is just crammed with stuff, just like my lab, and the selection of old computer gear is excellent. If you're maintaining an old system, look no further. However, if you want to buy a brand-new top of the line laptop, this might not be the place. What really got me going was their selection of components! Tons of random caps, inductors, LEDs, etc. They have a bin of LEDs that are almost certainly at least 30 years old. I bought a bunch of them and they work great! An easy way to add real retro feel to any electronics project. The guy who runs the place is really nice -- I fill a bin with a pile of stuff and then he is always willing to negotiate! The kind of service that will keep me coming back over and over.
