Located in the historic district of Old Montreal, the Notre-Dame Basilica was first operated by the Jesuits, then the Sulpician Fathers. Constructions took place, which included demolishing the old church (except for the bell tower), adding the twin towers, and adding a new chapel. In the late '70s, there was a fire that damaged the chapel, which resulted in rebuilding the first two levels and adding a modern vault. The church itself is grand, especially in the front entrance area, and you have to walk further down to see the church in its glory. You can pay for admission which includes a tour. It looks pretty majestic, and those who appreciate building structures can definitely appreciate this church!
