| - The hub had been desperately awaiting the opening of WF in our neighbourhood, and when it finally did, we had to be there the day they opened ... and we were!
Yes you could tell they had just opened! There were many inexperienced zombies stumbling about (I'm sure it was a long day) and moments that just made you wonder why more experienced staff was NOT there on opening day. It took 15 minutes and three people to figure out how to prepare my 4-ingredient sandwich. It seemed that the first person did not know what fresh mozzarella was, and when I pointed at it, he did not believe me, so he had to go grab someone to confirm this.
Also, the hot food bar was rather plain with the exception of the curry dishes that looked delicious, but when we were only able to find BROWN rice to go with it, we thought it had to be a mistake. Asking for cooked basmati also seemed to puzzle the zombies, and eventually we did find out there was none. The one other food item that caught our eye was the macaroni and cheese .... yah! imagine that!! When mac n' cheese catches your eye, it says a lot about the selection.
Once we had our food we sat down and were serenaded by a three-piece band. The food was not bad, but then again we are at a grocery store!!
We walked around later ... the cheese zombie could not help me, so I helped her finding what I wanted. Nice cheese selection, I hope by now they have someone that can tell you about it. The organic items that we regularly buy at our community grocer were more expensive at WF so ... I don't know what to think.
I won't be going back for the next couple of weeks. I think they need some time to settle and get acquainted with their inventory. It is a great looking grocery store with an incredible variety of natural products, it is a big deal to finally get one here, but I'm still undecided on how much love I should give it. Time will tell.
