I bought a friend a spa day from Newbury and while she had nothing but praise for her mani, pedi and massage girls, the one downside was a lady at the front desk. When I called and booked the appointment I mentioned to the girl (Vicky) that my friend would be in for her appointment and I'd come to pay. She was fine with that and gave me a ball park amount so I'd know how much everything was. Once my friend got there she was treated so rudely by Hayley the lady at the desk, that she wanted to leave. Snippy attitude, not willing to answer her questions and demanding payment up front, even though the reservation should have clearly stated it was being paid for by someone else. When I went to pay after my friend texted me, I also got treated poorly by Hayley. I've been using spas and restaurants for years. I'm well aware that gratuity is extra. No need to rudely and loudly tell me that. I paid and tipped and on our way out we got zero acknowledgement other than a glare from Hayley. Hint to the owners. Get rid of Hayley and we'll be back. Doesn't matter how good the back of the house staff is, the face of the spa is your front desk. The attitude that Hayley gives isn't very visitor friendly.
