| - I was dubious of the food after the last menu change, and also the mediocre transition period, but the kinks have been worked out (for pub grub). Just don't order off the reuben menu -- they couldn't make an edible reuben to save their life. And I've tried three reubens. They were all lukewarm, tough/chewy, and flavorless.
I miss the Irish sausages, but the shepherd's pie is still a great choice. They've tweaked the recipe a bit since the last time I was here, but it's still wonderful. And the curry fries as well as the corned beef & cabbage taquito oddities are also good choices. I've also had the fish and chips, which are great most of the time with one or two exceptions (oil wasn't hot enough/too cold/etc.). The peppercorn burger is also worth it.
The bar's atmosphere is what seal's the deal for me, though. Having spent some time in Ireland, it's pretty much the most authentic thing you're going to find in Phoenix. And the bartender's are always friendly. On weekends it's now rather busy, but still worth it. If you see me here during a weekday afternoon however, noshing on some curry fries, feel free to join me.
If you're in the area, definitely stop by for a few pints.
