My first experience with Gordon Ramsay's cooking was in one of his restaurants in London called the Narrow and was fortunate enough to have tried a really spectaculr Dover sole dish.
As years go by, Gordon Ramsay seemed to have really made a name for himself. His public persona might appear pretty harsh but one has gotta admit that he is truly one of best chefs in the world and one of the savvyist restauranteurs. His "direct-in-your-face", "tell-it-like-it-is" zero sugarcoating demoneanor can make some cringe but also makes him a showbiz personality.
Our small party decided to go to GR's Pub & Grill at the the Caesars Palace and we ordered the following:
- Shepherd's pie made with stewed lamb with root vegetables topped with a cheddar mashed potatoes. Very aromatic and herbaceous. This was a good tasting pie.
- Pan-roasted airline chicken which is beer brined on a bed of white beans with some kale and carrots. The chicken had a nice, crispy skin and seemed very moist and tender.
- Grilled bacon burger - Burger was juicy and well-received.
- Grilled lamb burger - Meeh from the person who had it said that it wasn't anything special.
- Pub chopped salad sans chicken - This was ordered by someone who wasn't very hungry.
- Truffle chips - Everyone loved these truffle fries.
- Hellfire wings - Chile beer glazed and quite flavorful with a kick.
- Crispy calamari - okay.
- GR's Sticky toffee pudding - THIS IS SOOO GOOD! Absolutely decadent, unctuous and delicious. I was already full but couldn't stop eating this. I would just return for the sticky toffee pudding!
All in all, we had a good meal and a great time! Trying to get a reservation an be easily done through Open Table.
My next stop would be GR's Hell's Kitchen but getting a reservation on short notice is always tricky.
