  • I had no intentions of doing anything about The Cosmopolitan Yelp-wise other than checking in. However, my stay here was disappointing enough to blab about. Hubbers and I were here the night before we checked in to meet with people (who were already checked in) for a few drinks before the big event the next day. It is both our first time here. Although valet was free, we decided to park our car ourselves. Took the elevator to the lobby, and the very first impression we got soon as the elevator doors opened was: THE SMELL. It smelled like someone passed gas, somehow reproduced itself to a ridiculous scale and just... LINGERED. Luckily, we were able to walk through without having to pass out. We decided to hang out at the sports bar to watch a few games. Got a comp'd drink as we played on the poker machine. (TIP: If you play/bet enough, the machines will spit out free cocktail coupons!) And then... a different kind of smell. It is the smell of various people marinating in their colognes. Granted, that's not the hotel's fault, but there's gotta be a way to make the vents handle this! MOVING ON! We came back the next day to check-in our room. We decided to valet this time as we needed a porter for the luggage. Walked in through the doors and the odor wasn't so bad. But the deeper inside the casino floor we got, the more the stench made itself obvious. Early check in was given to us (YES!). I also decided to upgrade the room to get a balcony as well as a Jacuzzi-style tub. Then she says, "There's also a mandatory $36.00 hotel resort fee." This sucks, by the way, because this hotel resort fee includes: * Fitness center access - DIDN'T USE IT. We didn't have time. * Sporting facilities or equipment - DIDN'T USE THAT EITHER. See above. * Internet access - COULDN'T USE IT AS THEY DIDN'T PROVIDE A PIN. * Phone calls - THE PHONE WAS BROKEN IN MY ROOM. We had to get an engineer to fix it. We had to prep for a wedding soon as we checked in, so we didn't have time to use said facilities paid via the hotel resort fee. But I understand: THIS IS VEGAS. (How about just charging those who actually use it!) Made our way up to our room and there go that familiar scent from the night before. Walking through the hallway to our room was almost tormenting. It's like the walls and carpeting were with defecation (human or otherwise) then cleaned with cheap disinfectant! But! The room was fantastic. It was crisp, clean, CANNOT complain about any weird odors... Checked out the next day via the TV remote. We rarely visit Vegas, but... Hubbers and I agreed this would be on our "DO NOT STAY HERE!" list. The stink was just too overbearing. PS: The hotel just sent an email asking about my stay. You bet your *fill in the blank* I'm responding!
