  • This review is more about the cafe than the actual market, which I find to be a bit pricey but worth it for the quality. If you want to try the market...I say go for it! The cafe is another story. After shopping at the market a few times, I've always wanted to sit down and try the cafe. The menu looked tasty and it's BYOB!I went for an earlyish brunch on a Sunday - around 11AM. The weather was questionable and the place was not very busy, yet the service was horribly slow. None of the staff seemed very interested in doing anything in a timely fashion despite only having a few tables between them. I ordered tea to start with, and I watched it sit on the counter for close to 15 minutes before being brought to me. It was already cold when I finally got it. When I politely asked if there was a way they could warm it up I was rudely told "no" by the pretentious barista (who like everyone else had no other customers at the time). Now if I'm going to pay $4 for a basic cup of tea, I want it to at least be hot. About 40 minutes after ordering, we receive our (also not hot) meals. The french toast was delicious, as were the potatoes. Would have probably been better hot though. The fresh squeezed OJ was a hit too. After all of that venting I will close with this, the food here is a bit overpriced but decent. However, the staff was generally pretentious, inattentive, and very slow. It seemed like they took no pride in the food or the place itself, and were too busy socializing with each other to care about their customers. I would have definitely returned here if it weren't for the very poor service. It's unfortunate because in general I really like the market, but I will not be returning to the cafe. Pittsburgh has a great food scene. If you want to set yourselves a part, do so with good service.
