Nothing I hate more than a store that advertises a product on sale, have it on display, have signs up showing how much you're saving, then doesn't have any of them in stock...then proceeds to try to talk you to buy a more expensive item. Aren't there laws about that called "Bait and Switch"?
We visited this location on Tuesday night looking for a laptop. Of the ones they had on display and after comparing various features, we narrowed our selection down to 2. As we could not locate anyone working in this section, I went to a cashier who promptly paged a staff member, who arrived within 30 seconds.
We discussed the benefits of each laptop and whether it matched the needs of the purchaser and then made our selection. We then had to listen to the spiel about purchasing Microsoft Office and anti virus software. We declined. More pressure to buy, we declined. Off the person went to get the computer. A few minutes later he returned saying that they did not have the computer we wanted in stock. We then looked at option 2. Off he went...came back with same result...they had none in stock.
He then proceeded to try to convince us to purchase a laptop that he steered us away from earlier. Suddenly it became a viable option.
While talking to him, someone else came by with a different saleperson, wanting to buy the Option 2 computer we looked at. That salesperson told this other customer that the computer was out of stock ...Customer asks .."Why have it on display if you don't have any in stock?"...response..."I'll check to see if another location has it in stock"
My question is...why continue to advertise an item in store as on-sale while none are in stock? Seems shady to me.....
Ran out the door as fast as we could.....
