| - When I told my friend I had Asian-flavoured ice cream, he said: "Why? You can just lick yourself." Bad dad jokes aside, the ice cream at Kekou is admittedly very delicious!
With flavours like HK milk tea, spicy salty pineapple, rosewater pistachio, soursop, durian...you're in for an exotic treat. Even with the small size, you get to combine two different flavours and you're allowed to sample as much as you want before committing. The service here is very easygoing with that, and quite friendly overall. I ended up getting the HK milk tea and roasted oolong, which tasted like a frozen bubble tea. Loved the flavours as they tasted pretty authentic.
I also got to sample the rosewater pistachio and Viet coffee. The rosewater pistachio was delicious but very strong. If you get another flavour, it might be overpowered. The Viet coffee had the strongest coffee flavour of any coffee ice creams I've tried in my life. Definitely had a hard time not committing to that one.
Kekou isn't much of an eat-in experience. There wasn't enough seating which meant some people had to stand up and eat their ice cream. This didn't stop people from coming in though, it only got busier the longer we stayed. A lot of Asian sweets places also try to be aesthetically pleasing, with big, colourful, "kawaii" cutesy menus. Kekou goes for the bare minimum: black block letters on plain white strips, kinda like what you see on an outdoor sign at a gas station.
But hey, as long as their ice cream is good, that's all that matters to me!
