  • Why are so many reviewers afraid of a little nudity? One of the best things I ever did for myself was opt to go without clothes on Hanlan's Point Beach, during the Blackout of 2003. I had nowhere to go, hardly any money to my name and no way to access my bank account, so I took my bike and headed to the ferry docks. Hanlan's was the first ferry to leave, so I took my bike on the boat and did a little exploring. I rode from Hanlan's to Ward's and back again ... absolutely beautiful. Saw orioles and blue jays and even a few snakes. I went back to the beach and reassured myself that no one on the sand knew me or cared what my body looked like and then disrobed ... best thing I ever did for my self-esteem. Now I'm a total regular on that beach in the summertime. It's a fabulous beach; the water is beautiful and (most) of the people are friendly and helpful, particularly when some unwanted attention comes my way. Funny thing about Hanlan's beach is that, while the Province allows for clothing optional to rule the beach, the water itself is governed municipally and the City doesn't allow for nakedness in the lake. Good thing the lifeguards on the beach don't care. :-) You should seriously come to Hanlan's and enjoy a great day at the beach, especially during the CNE Air Show! Best 'seats' in town!
