I love Sheetz. It is by far my favorite gas station/convenience store that I've ever been to. I so desperately wish they would open some in the Cincinnati area because they are so much better than what they offer out here.
So what makes them so great? Well..their selection of products and snacks is always impressive. They feel more like a mini-grocery store than a convenience store with all they have to offer. But the main draw is their made to order food. Starting with the touch screen menu where you can place and specially customize an order at any time of day or night for anything from burgers to sandwiches or appetizers or hot dogs..their menu would basically be considered bar food-like..but it's all good stuff and it's all a lot better than you would expect from food made at essentially a gas station.
Anywho, this location was alright. We stopped by to grab some food pretty late on a Friday night. The place was busy but not crazy busy.
I hadn't had Sheetz food in a while, and I was pretty hungry, so I got a couple different things. A hot dog with ketchup and mustard, a steak and cheese sandwich, and some popcorn buffalo chicken. They used to have nachos and cheese on their menu..which was one of my go-to's for sure..but it was no longer on there. Bummer.
The order took a bit of time to come out. It wasn't that long of a time, but it was long enough for me to think to myself that maybe it shouldn't take that long for an order of my size to be prepared.
The staff there that night seemed agitated. They weren't really friendly and some of them were outright rude. I mean, I'm sure it's annoying to work there on a Friday night with all the crazy drunk people that show up to order food..but that's kind of what you're asking for when you serve made to order food all night every night.
When the food finally did come out I was a bit disappointed with it. The hot dog barely had any ketchup or mustard on it..which made it seem pretty dry and bland. The steak sandwich was smashed together so much that it was almost the same size as the hot dog. It tasted alright but it didn't look that great. The popcorn chicken was probably the best thing I ordered. The chicken itself was crisp and the buffalo sauce was the right amount of hot and sweet. I ordered a ranch for dipping but they forgot to throw it in my bag..oh well.
Again, I love Sheetz as a company..and even a bad Sheetz is still decent. I wouldn't necessarily consider this a bad location, and I would stop by here again if I were in the area..it would just be nice for the service to be a little friendlier and the food prepared a little better..that's all.
