  • I checked out the Pig & Duke on 4th last night for dinner and drinks, and I must say it was a very unimpressive experience. The issue I had was with the waitress (she is a brunette, with glasses working near the pool table), who was quite rude to me when I informed her I was unhappy with Caesar salad she brought me. A matter of fact, in another post here, someone else complained about it as well, and added a photo (https://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/pig-and-duke-pub-calgary-2?select=Yyl2t2FTHbThdm6u429kOQ&reviewid=b1cEs6sMj5pgtbI-OSCyAQ). I told the waitress when she asked if everything was good (which now I see is only a rhetorical question to her), that I was very "unimpressed with the Caesar salad". because a mini head of salad cut into two with some caesar dressling clumped on it, in my opinion is not a Caesar salad.. She then told me "they're wedges"; however, when I ordered she said "caesar salad", not wedges, because I would have questioned that. She then in a snarky tone explained how I should eat it as though I needed lesson on how to eat . Also, her tone of voice was as though she was offended, rather than concerned about her customer. I then said "this isn't against you, you're doing a great job, but maybe you can tell the chef about this". She said in a very rude and insincere way "sorry", and turned around and stormed away. Following this, it was an awkward situation when she would come back to the table asking if we wanted more drinks etc. The issue I have here is that I'm a customer, and I want to feel like I am being provided with good service. This is no longer the boom times in Calgary where servers can act aloof and still get a 20% tip. People are not going out as much and if they are, the establishments should appreciate someone picked their establishment to drink or dine. If I get even decent service, I will give a 20% tip, but if you treat me as though I am a pariah, because I was told I was getting one thing and instead I was given a product that I found to be displeasing . . . that is unbelievably unacceptable. What this means is, if someone ever asks me about this place, I will tell them not to come here, and I will never recommend anyone to go there. This is cliche, but the customer is always right. Lastly, she receiving nothing for a tip.
