RIP OFF! GOUGERS!
I was suffering with the Flu (had been in the hospital, too), and needed to get easy-to-use thermostats installed to get control of the temperature in our new home. Stevens Plumbing and A/C agreed to come that afternoon. Mark shows up, begins his work and tells me about the Braeburn 1020 he recommended for the thermostats. He uninstalled the 2 old stats and put in the new ones. He mentioned that the first one would cost something like $240 and the second one about $210. I was too sick to think much about it. The install went fine. Took him about 10 mins a piece to install the new thermostats. Although he checked the furnaces, he didn't replace the filters (which I assume would be a standard thing for a new home owner to need).
I paid him $576.91.
Today, feeling a bit better, I went online to see what these Thermostats cost. Retail price is about $35 each! A handyman could have installed for a fraction of what they charged. Plus, the receipt is not itemized. SHAMEFUL! I got burned and that's my fault. But the power of the internet will be a major payback that will cost Stevens Plumbing and A/C FAR MORE! I even gave Mark a $20 tip. He probably thinks I'm a sucker. He's right.
