| - If I were only rating the view, I would give this restaurant five stars OF COURSE. You couldn't ask for a better quintessentially Vegas Strip view. However, for the price, I would've expected better food and better service. I showed up AN HOUR before my reservation in an attempt to "call dibs" on the very best table for two (the website tells you there are no guarantees but best to call ahead, have them notate it on the reservation, and ask the maƮtre d' when you arrive - I did all three in addition to getting there an hour early) nevertheless, we got a table about midway down and while it was still a nice view, I think my efforts should've earned us a better spot with a more central view of the Bellagio fountains. (I'm a little spastic, sure, but I wanted it to be perfect to celebrate a friend's birthday). Moving on... at a restaurant like this, you shouldn't have to ask for a dark dinner napkin. They should see you're wearing black and automatically switch out the white for black. They should also hand the napkin to you (or lay it in your lap, which is always weird for me) when they're greeting you and running down a list of wines or cocktails or other such initial "need to knows" for the evening. None of that happened. I had to ask for a dark napkin after the bread guy put bread on top of the white napkin I had not yet moved. Our server was friendly and made good cocktail recommendations, but the whole experience felt rushed and overly casual (which I would've expected at a Cheesecake Factory but not at a $$$$ restaurant). She didn't describe any specials or provide any food recommendations. My friend ordered the chicken - it was tough and a little dry. I ordered the salmon, which was a little undercooked (medium raaaare). The haricot vert were SUPER SALTY. We couldn't eat them. They put what looked like French's fried onions on top, which reminded me of the green bean casserole at Gramma Betsy's house for Thanksgiving. They did bring a small chocolate mousse with "happy birthday" written on the plate in chocolate. That was a nice touch. But overall, the dining experience was very underwhelming. I think that's one of those places you can go one time, just for a drink and the view, and then never go back.
