These guys are unashamedly and intentionally out to rip you off. Don't go here. Their prices on CarRentals.com were really cheap (about $11/day), so I was already prepared for the worst, but this was off the charts. First they outright lied to me. They told me I needed liability insurance and that I had to pay them for it. They said Ontario law requires $1M of coverage. This is a blatant lie. Liability insurance by law is provided by the owner of the vehicle in Ontario, car rental companies cannot sell it. The minimum coverage is $200k, not $1M. The coverage would have more than doubled the price of the rental.
After I refused to pay, they threatened (and did) charge me a cancellation fee for 1 day's rental, but it was about 5x the original booking daily rate.
They finally offered me a liability waiver (pretty much the same thing that all other car rental companies offer you up front) when I walked out the door. Given the fraudulent nature of their business, I refused to do business with them.
I suspect they thought I'm not from Toronto because I have an out of province driver's license. You might not get this treatment if you have an Ontario driver license, but why do business with crooks?
