As far as family friendly coffee shops go, this is as a good as it gets. No hipsters in tight jeans and Vans discussing Sartre in the corner. No Bob Dylan wannabes strumming dirty lyrics on a shabbily lit wooden stage that creaks when he hits the right note.
What they do have is THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE EVER, and some lovely Argentinian delights (Sweeties, I mean, not Argentinian men... Er... I mean... Nevermind... ) They serve breakfast and lunch, and although I didn't have one, I peeked over at someone else's sandwich and it looked quite tasty. The prices aren't bad, either.
All that said, it's not my most favorite coffee shop because of its ambiance. Coziness is lacking, mostly because there's only one couch (which an older man decided to stretch his entire self across...hmph), and the other seating is just tables/chairs. And there's not a single electrical outlet in sight, which means this place is not laptop friendly, so be prepared to write your next Great American Novel longhand in this joint. Oh, yeah, and if your laptop did manage to survive without a lifeline, there's no wireless anyway.
The service can at times leave a bit to be desired (you'd think Southern hospitality would flow like water), and they had quite a few paintings/photographs for sale, but I wasn't moved.
So, it's a big fat "meh," but that cookie was just so damn good, it gets upped 1.5 stars.
